Things are in full swing at the Douglasville Parks and Recreation Department. If you haven’t already, come by for a visit at the Hunter Park Athletic Complex. The City of Douglasville’s vision is to provide a state-of-the-art community based, and travel ball facility for competitive and recreational sporting events. Hunter Park has caught the eye of several baseball promoters, and in 2016, the City of Douglasville hosted over 2,800 baseball games during the season, and is looking to surpass that number in 2017.

The Park has ten multi-purpose fields that can host several different types of tournaments from girl’s softball, youth baseball to college baseball. The city of Douglasville and Hunter Park has been selected to host the southeastern All-Star state and world series tournaments. The tournaments have over 130 teams, in addition, the MLB Experience, and several different vendors are on location for all of your baseball needs.

Hunter Park’s Miracle League baseball complex features special amenities, including a safe and softer rubberized surface that allows for easy access for wheelchairs and walkers. The special surface also helps prevent rainouts that are common on dirt infields.  The Douglasville Park and Recreation’s Athletic Complex is one of only 15 Miracle League fields in Georgia, and is home to two Miracle League teams.

From February to early November ball players and fans cluster to Hunter Park’s Athletic Complex for the fun of the game. Mid-May kicks off Hunter Parks All-star and travel ball tournament season. Over 150 teams from Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee travel to Douglasville to play ball. Sporting events hosted at the Douglasville’s Park and Rec facilities provide a big boost to the local economy. Douglasville hotels are booked as tournaments welcome hundreds of teams and thousands of spectators locally and throughout the region.

As a special honor, Perfect Game USA—the world’s largest baseball scouting service—chose the Hunter Park Athletic Complex to host over 100 games at Historic Webb Field. Teams from all across the United States and Puerto Rico travel to Douglasville to complete in a series of tournaments.

Hunter Park continues to offer a quality youth baseball program for the residents of Douglasville and Douglas County. This program started over 60 years ago and provides recreational and competitive baseball for boys and girls ages 3 to 14 years of age for both the spring and fall seasons.
